Francis Chan: Stepping Out of the Spotlight

Check out this really interesting video in which Francis Chan explains his decision to step out of the “public eye” (including resigning from his role as the senior pastor of his church) and take an “honest look” at his life.  He seems to be grappling with the “Evangelical Hollywood” that seems to reign supreme right now.

.

Chan was also interviewed for the Gospel Coalition by Mark Driscoll and Joshua Harris in regard to this issue:

I am continually struck by Chan’s honesty and humility when it comes to his own personal walk with Christ.  At one point he says, “I think I’m more messed up than I realize,” and this seems to be a driving factor in his desire to take a sabbatical from public life.  There’s wisdom in that statement, and we should pay attention to and heed his example.
