Awesome (Free!) Bible Apps

So, I’m sure that you clicked on this post hoping to find a free download.  I must confess, I don’t have any cool iPhone/Android apps to offer you.  I’m not actually talking about “apps” at all – at least not the digital kind.  I’m talking about Bible application (i.e. relating the truths of the Bible to our lives and seeking live accordingly).  Check out this quote:

Dwight L. Moody said that the Word of God was not given primarily to increase our knowledge, but to guide our steps…This approach [to reading the Bible] takes the Bible out of the theoretical and places the emphasis on daily life where it should be.  But all too often the truths of the Word of God are left in the same categories as are other things we admire and appreciate.  We are charmed, for example, but the majesty, beauty, and eternity of the Scriptures.  But was that God’s full intent when He gave us the Bible?  Note what Paul says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Tim. 3:16-17).  Scripture must be applied to life.

For more quotes on the importance of focusing on applying the Bible to our daily lives, see quotes by Francis Chan, Gordon Fee, and John Calvin.

Oh, and there are quite a few good Bible “apps” out there, including the ESV’s, YouVersion, Blue Letter Bible, and Olive Tree.
