What is the New Perspective on Paul?

The phrase “The New Perspective on Paul” (NPP) is thrown about a lot these days, often without definition and/or explanation. Many important books have been written on the subject, including:

However, many Christians may not have the time nor the will to spend hours studying these rather “heady” books.

In light of that, I thought it might be helpful to link to a helpful article from Tom Schreiner’s forthcoming book 40 Questions About Christians and Biblical Law. Justin Taylor has posted an extremely well-written chapter from the book answering the question, “What is the New Perspective on Paul and how should it be assessed?
